Your fridge is practically the most important appliance in your kitchen! Being the best place to keep your food fresh, having this appliance clean and germ-free is crucial.

Unfortunately, even if you haven’t spilled anything recently inside the fridge, germs don’t spare any place, so you still need to clean it. However, this process is pretty easy; just follow the steps below.

Step 1. Prepare your cleaning solution with vinegar

Vinegar is an acidic product that can help you with many household chores, including cleaning your fridge. Plus, since this is a natural product, you don’t have to worry about it being close to your food!

Just fill a spray bottle with three parts water and one part white vinegar. Then, shake it to make sure everything gets properly mixed.

Step 2. Empty your refrigerator

To clean the whole fridge, you need to empty it first. Take out all your food items (you can put them in a cooler for the time being) and take out the racks and drawers to make more room.

This way, you won’t have to worry about accidentally spilling something while cleaning; plus, you’ll be able to easily reach every nook and cranny of the appliance.

Step 3. Clean the fridge with the vinegar solution

Grab your homemade solution and spray the fridge with it. Then, with the help of a soft sponge, wipe the walls of the fridge. Then, simply wipe away the vinegar residue with clean water and a microfiber cloth.

Note: You can hand wash the rack and drawers in the sink, but don’t put them back just yet!

Step 4. Use baking soda for the stubborn stains

While the vinegar solution should take care of most of the grime, some stubborn or old stains can remain. If this happens, you can clean them with a baking soda paste.

Mix baking soda and water until you get a similar texture to toothpaste, and apply it to the stains. After ten minutes, wipe it off with a damp microfiber cloth.

This should take care of the stuck-on grime—plus, baking soda is a deodorizer, so it will leave your fridge smelling fresh!

Step 5. Put everything back in place

Once you’re done cleaning your refrigerator, you can return everything to its place. Start with the racks (if they’re not dry yet, use a clean cloth) and follow by putting all your groceries back.

Extra step: clean the outside of the fridge

If the outside of your fridge is not looking so good, you can use the same vinegar solution to clean it! You only need to spray and wipe the dirty surface with a clean cloth.

Note: If your fridge is made of stainless steel, follow the direction of the grain while wiping to avoid leaving streaks or scratching the finish.
